Mikki Anderson

My spa journey started by being inspired by healers growing up. I wanted to learn about massage and healing and I knew that to touch someone for healing, you really needed to learn proper massage technique and how to work with energy.
I have watched the spa industry being formed, and grow from just "pampering" to offering natural and effective alternatives.

Vice President, StressBusters Wellness Day Spa

Mikki Melinda Anderson is the Vice President of StressBusters Wellness Day Spa. Known as “Mouse” to her family, Mikki loves to go to spin and barre class. Some of her favorite ISPA benefits include quick and easy access to industry research, professional development sessions during Conference and the ISPA Job Bank.  She loves to live by her favorite quote by Walt Disney, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

“My spa journey started by being inspired by healers growing up.  I wanted to learn about massage and healing and I knew that to touch someone for healing, you really needed to learn proper massage technique and how to work with energy.  With that prompting, I took my first massage course and fell in love with the field.  I worked with chiropractors and as time progressed, with some influential massage teachers, who changed the course of my life. From that doors flew open for me!

When the recession came, and took the life of 48 spas and massage facilities in Orange County, we barely hung on. Our revenue dropped 70 percent but the lease and bills did not.  I had to swallow my pride and applied for part-time work outside my own spa in order to keep our doors open. I worked seven days a week for a three-year period.  My tenacity and my husband’s financial wizardry saw us through and in the process, I fell in love with destination spas and the leisure guest!

My career has taken me to places I never imagined; such as becoming a Clinical Aromatherapist, bringing aromatherapy into a local hospital and becoming a NCBTMB Continuing Education Provider of Pregnancy Massage and Aromatherapy for Spa Therapists.  I have watched the spa industry being formed, and grow from just "pampering" to offering natural and effective alternatives to drugs as well as nourishing the soul… We are still evolving!”
