Nancy Thielman

I became a stay-at-home mom to my four amazing children. When I started to need to talk to other adults my then husband encouraged me to go into fitness as I loved to work out.
I love being able to make a difference in people's lives through fitness, so I continued to learn and teach more.

Director of Spa, The Spa at Longboat Key Club

The Spa at Longboat Key Club & Resort’s Director of Spa Nancy Thielman once worked as a tour guide in Niagara Falls. She enjoys cheering on the Buffalo Bills, she even remembers going to games as a young girl when the snow was up to her thighs! She can’t wait to cross her bucket list vacation off her list - a bike tour of Italy's wine country - where you bike from winery to winery.

“I thought politics were for me because I loved learning and studying about it. When you are young everything seems so glamorous. We would help with local campaigns as a family and did a lot of politicking - I think that is where the joy was for me. When I delved into the process it was not glamorous and it was not even entirely honest which did not make me feel as joyful.

I became a stay-at-home mom to my four amazing children. When I started to need to talk to other adults my then husband encouraged me to go into fitness as I loved to work out. My first fitness class I instructed was a mommy and me class where the ladies brought their infants to class and we ended with some interactive stretches and movement with the babies.

I have natural leadership abilities and loved being able to make a difference in people's lives through fitness, so I continued to learn and teach more. I became a trainer and then ran the aquatics program at an elite health club in upstate New York. We moved to Florida where I worked as an aquatic specialist in a hospital therapy pool - which was great because I learned a lot about the elderly population. Then I began working at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa where I moved from fitness management to spa management. Overseeing a facility of that size and scope truly prepared me to be where I am today, which is loving what I do and still striving to make a difference for everyone I contact.”
