"When I took a step back and really looked at designing my life ‘plan,’ resigning from finance and building Brilliant Imports was the intended path for me."
“My proudest accomplishment is making the decision to leave the world of Wall Street... to concentrate fully on developing and growing Brilliant Imports."

Brilliant Imports Founder and Owner Amy L. Campbell is a detail-oriented and multitalented businesswoman. A 1997 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Amy spent 16 years in finance during which she launched Brilliant Imports in 2012. Brilliant Imports focuses on bringing hand-created, soulful pieces (whether that be a hand-carved Buddha, vintage panel or hand-woven basket) into the modern world. Among Amy’s specialties is commissioning handmade batik kimono robes (ideal for a Zen spa experience) as well as curating décor pieces and furniture to build sanctuaries in spa spaces and boutiques. Amy also offers sourcing, buying and styling services by creating customized pieces for clients and their unique projects.

“My proudest accomplishment is making the decision to leave the world of Wall Street (I was a Wealth Advisor, CFP® at Morgan Stanley) to concentrate fully on developing and growing Brilliant Imports. For several years, prior to making that decision, I was managing client portfolios while launching and running Brilliant Imports. The market correction of 2008 was a dreadful time to be in finance and was also a period of deep introspection for me that allowed me to understand and realize my life goals. It took years to make the move, but it became apparent that wealth advisory was not where my passion laid any longer and I really wanted to discover my life purpose — dharma — if you will,” shares Amy. “In addition to creating beautiful spaces that instill a sense of intention, I get a deep satisfaction of discovering and creating new products and pieces. I’m also a lover of world travel and discovering and digging into other cultures. When I took a step back and really looked at designing my life 'plan,' resigning from finance and building Brilliant Imports was the intended path for me. I regularly travel to Bali to source and commission new pieces while overseeing production.”

Amy adds, “Some talents are always in us and wait patiently to be nurtured. When you tune into those talents, it allows creativity to flow. With the time I spent in finance, I definitely predominantly lived in my left brain, which comes in very handy with the logistical side of running an imports business. At this point in the game, I’m luckily able to combine my creative and business talents to bring beauty to the world via Brilliant Imports. I love creating special spaces, altars and vignettes with Brilliant Imports … creating, styling and decorating are therapeutic for me.”

Also therapeutic for Amy are the numerous hiking opportunities she and her dog rescue dog Griffin enjoy around their home base in Basalt. Her design senses are undoubtedly sharpened and influenced by the clear air and rugged beauty of Colorado’s Western Slope.

“The most interesting thing I’ve done recently is making the move from Austin, Texas, to live part-time in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley. Austin has greatly grown and changed since I moved there in 1994, and I’m not a fan the intense triple-digit summers,” says Amy. “I am now beyond blessed to split time between both of these wonderful places. When I’m in Colorado, I literally have a hike up Basalt Mountain in my backyard — it’s incredible! There is also a plethora of stunning hikes in my area. Some of my favorites are Maroon Bells, Independence Pass (in the winter), American Lake, Cathedral Lake and Thomas Lake. There are also sweetly intense and quick workouts like Smuggler Mountain in Aspen. I’m very excited to hike from Aspen to Crested Butte among the wildflowers this summer!”

Amy is a Deadhead as well. Following the Grateful Dead on tour the summer of 1992 selling bracelets on Shakedown Street was the experience of a lifetime. It wouldn’t be a stretch to call Amy a sensitive rocker deep down. We are honored to have creative and enthusiastic members such as Amy who contribute greatly to our association’s character.
