Jennifer Boonlorn

"I am most proud of myself for overcoming the fires in life that have been thrown my way and learning how to get back up and thrive again."
"I see connections between people, and I love business match-making. My friends call me the ‘mayor’ because of my ginormous social circle and the fact that so many people consider me their very close friend."

Nicknamed “the social mayor” by her friends, Jennifer Boonlorn has a talent for connection. The proud owner and founder of Soul Carrier, Jenn was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, and after living in New York City, she has returned to her hometown and lives there now. For the past four years, Jennifer has been selling her brand to the spa industry, and she loves “being connected to such a fabulous industry.”

“I see connections between people, and I love business match-making. My friends call me the ‘mayor’ because of my ginormous social circle and the fact that so many people consider me their very close friend. I would say my random talent is helping people by listening to their needs, and then knowing another contact who could help that first person fulfill that specific need.”

Jenn’s guilty pleasure is binge watching TV shows like Scandal, Silicon Valley and her favorite, Suits. For stress relief, she enjoys spin class and curling up on the couch for a good action movie. On the spa side of things, she loves facials, pedicures and microdermabrasion. Consuming podcasts like water, she is driven by the desire to learn and constantly stay open and curious.

“I am second generation Thai—my dad came over from Bangkok to receive his master’s in architecture from PRATT in Brooklynn. I was homeschooled all the way through high school and went to college at Arizona State University before attending Parsons School of Design.”

Coupled with her design expertise, Jenn has a passion for traveling. Her ability to combine the two is a testament to her soulful and vibrant personality: “I LOVE traveling, it feeds my soul. I travel a decent amount to call on new accounts and meet with my marketing team in San Diego. Soul Carrier’s message inspires people to ask themselves the question, ‘Where do I want to go?’ and encourages them to listen to their soul to find the answer. Selling my collection of handbags to resort spas like the Alvardora Spa at Royal Palms and The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North has been a dream come true. We love aligning with high end resorts, as the spa retail market has proven to be Soul Carrier’s sweet spot.

“I also travel frequently to attend Kygo concerts—I will travel anywhere to hear the Norwegian EDM musician play! Although my Spotify playlists are often 120 songs long, my favorite songs are anything by Avicii, Kygo or Martin Garrix. My all-time favorite songs are probably ‘Wake Me Up’ by Avicii, ‘Happy Now’ by Kygo and ‘High on Life” by Martin Garrixx.”

In addition to her fun and energetic music tastes, Jenn has another character trait that sets her apart from many others: resilience. The reason why might surprise you:

“My homes have always been next to places that are connected to my parents. While a student at Parsons in NYC, I had an apartment in the West Village of Manhattan that turned out to be next to the very building that my mother used to live in when she was my age. And then when I moved back home to Phoenix, I bought a mid-century modern condo that is across the street from the architectural firm my father worked at while I was in grade school. I find these facts endearing and special because I lost both my parents while a junior in college in a car accident that my entire family was involved in. It makes me feel safe and still looked after. I am most proud of myself for overcoming the fires in life that have been thrown my way and learning how to get back up and thrive again.”

Jenn volunteers and continues to donate funds to Child Crisis Nursery in Arizona. They are a temporary foster care shelter and agency that helps families in need. It is no wonder, considering Jenn’s own experiences, that she actively seeks to give back in this way. Her favorite quote says so much about her, from Frederix Laloux:

“The ultimate goal in life is not to be successful or loved, but to become the truest expression of ourselves, to live into authentic selfhood, to honor our birthright gifts and callings, and be of service to humanity and our world.”
