Helen Hodgson

"I learned from years of watching my mother, registered nurse and mother of five- that as caretakers, we women, are often the last ones to nurture ourselves."
"I experienced an awakening where I tapped into the ancient goddess Aphrodite, that I was inspired to practice self-love and Serve The Goddess my Mobile Spa was born."

Helen Hodgson has worn many hats over the past 25 years, registered nurse, nutritionist, personal trainer, and massage therapist. While working in some of the finest spas, she realized how clients were unhappy with the time they spent driving to and from the spa. Helen saw an opportunity and a need for something different, a mobile spa, Serve The Goddess was created. She wanted to bring all the bliss right to her client’s doorstep! Helen can give a more customizable experience, which has made this an ideal situation for parties and big groups. She also coaches other spa professionals around the globe, to provide in home spa services.

“I experienced an awakening where I tapped into the ancient goddess Aphrodite, that I was inspired to practice self-love and Serve The Goddess my Mobile Spa was born. I went on a pilgrimage to the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite in Pathos on the island of Cyprus and became an advocate for empowering women.” Helen not only works to empower women in her job, but she also makes time to march for women’s rights. The Women’s March was the most inspiring thing Helen has done this year.

Hodgson describes herself as a visionary, compassionate, and intuitive woman. All very accurate with her life’s work. Through years of watching her mother over give then, experiencing that exhaustion herself, she sought to become an advocate for all women to practice better self-care. Helen vividly remembers this ah-ha moment. “The experience of leading my first transformational retreat using the wisdom of the ancient goddesses allowed me to realize my life purpose. I learned from years of watching my mother, registered nurse and mother of five- that as caretakers, we women, are often the last ones to nurture ourselves. I swore I wouldn’t journey the same path, but as a nurse, personal fitness trainer and massage therapist myself, experienced the same “over giving” while neglecting my own personal needs. Running these retreats allows me to nurture my attendees through meditation, and deep reflection without over-giving.” Creating and leading these retreats is Helen’s proudest accomplishment in life so far. In fact, she plans to sell her mobile spa of 18 years to pour all her energy into them!

Helen volunteers with the Beauty Bus Foundation, providing mobile spa services for people who are terminally ill or without means. It’s hard to imagine Helen would have much spare time, but when she does she loves to free-form dance! Singing in her local choir and acting can be added to her list of talents. For relieving stress, she loves to walk by the ocean and indulge in Trader Joe’s Belgium Chocolate pudding. Helen’s favorite quote describes her life’s work and goals. “Honoring yourself doesn’t mean feeding your ego or inflating your importance, it simply means taking care of your heart and soul”.
