"Coming from the fitness industry, I was immediately dazzled by the new-found interest of skin care and cosmetics. I registered for one of the first aesthetician schools in the nation at the time"
"If you feel good on the inside, it is expressed that way both through the complexion, body and spirit."

Caroline Perdomo, Director of Spa & Retail at The Spa at Woodside in Kansas City, Kansas, has had quite the journey to becoming part of the spa industry. Her voyage began as a young dancer and gymnast until she entered Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

“I worked while attending school and with years of athletic training as a gymnast, I found myself in a gym. Gold's Gym was a good fit for work while enrolled in school. There I acquired both a personal training and aerobics instructor certification thru AAFA. This lead me to new interests other than my studies at school.”

Caroline ended up as a member of the Missouri National Guard as a military police officer before learning about the field of aesthetics.

“The US army was a place for me to stretch my athletic skills, maxing out all PT tests (running, pushups and sit-ups), as well as challenge my perseverance, living with a platoon full of 200 men to only a few women.  My favorite learned skills from training in the army was the gained knowledge of firearms and self-defense. I traveled to Panama a couple of times with the Missouri National Guard and served in the floods of St. Louis during the state of emergency in the 90s. I also learned how to navigate in the woods, dig a foxhole and 'hold my own'!”

Caroline went on to continue her work in the fitness industry, but a call from her cousin changed her career path.

“I dabbled in cosmetics when my cousin needed help in a Merle Norman Cosmetic store behind the makeup counter. Coming from the fitness industry, I was immediately dazzled by the new-found interest of skin care and cosmetics. I registered for one of the first aesthetician schools in the nation at the time, in Charleston, SC, in 1995. My passion in the spa industry lead me to open my own company and wellness spa in a partnership for five years. I continue using my esthetic skills in our facial treatment room at Woodside Health & Tennis. My favorite cosmetic service is applying eyelash extensions.”

One of Caroline’s most important career goals is to promote a healthy lifestyle to achieve beauty.

“The main idea I feel compelled to tell is reminding my customers and clients that beauty starts with health. If you feel good on the inside, it is expressed that way both through the complexion, body and spirit. I encourage living a healthy lifestyle, using the healthiest ingredients in both food and skin care.”
