Founder and CEO, HAVEN Collective

HAVEN Collective Founder and CEO Tracy Squillante has traveled the world, having been to over 33 countries. Her favorite guilty pleasure and way to relieve stress are one in the same – a perfect French Rosé. After she wakes up every day, she makes a pot of organic coffee and sits for 15 minutes “in a Mandarin Oriental Bangkok robe that I purchased when I stayed there. It is my tiny morning spa ritual.”

Tracy’s proudest accomplishment has been, “Moving to Italy when I was 37 and learning the language. I had just completed my graduate degree at the Pratt Institute of Design and could either take a full-time role at David Yurman, or fill a life dream! So, the choice was easy; I found a temporary apartment online, asked the Yurmans to put me on a consulting contract, subleased my apartment in Chelsea and left. My best friend was kind enough to help move me over and when she left, panic set in. I asked myself, ‘what have I done?’ The next day I started immersion Italian school. The class was filled with opera singers from Korea, furniture makers from Japan, nannies form the Ukraine, and we all spoke Italian to each other. It was both ridiculous and wonderful at the same time.  A beautiful memory was my first yoga class in Italian; you can only imagine how lovely the practice sounds in Italian. I stayed for four years.”

But the New York native has found herself back home running her own company, and after living in Manhattan for 25 years, she says she is still surprised at how amazing the city is. “I just moved from Chelsea to the Upper West Side and I am totally surprised that on such a tiny island, each neighborhood is entirely, distinctly different. I have moved three subway stops away and it could be a different state. The people, the vibe, the food, the style, even the yoga - completely different. I love that about New York.”

Creating HAVEN Collective apparel and being a certified yoga instructor have led Tracy to five years in the spa industry. “The connectivity between the two as an entrepreneur and a yogi is that you are always a novice. Each day is new; you discover something that comes easy to your body or your mind and something that trips you up. You must choose not to compare yourself to the person on the other mat or in the office next door. And you have to find joy and celebrate the little healthy movements.”

Although starting her own brand has taught Tracy to be open to all kinds of new experiences, she has managed to keep one thing to herself. “My yoga spa secret – I actually can’t stand green tea!”
