Executive Spa Director, The St. Regis Punta Mita

Alejandro Ortiz was born and raised in Mexico City, and after living in many different tourist destinations throughout Mexico, Costa Rica and Dubai, he now resides in Punta de Mita, Mexico as Executive Spa Director at The St. Regis Punta Mita. Alejandro broke into the spa world through fitness, as he sought out massage therapy as a way to complement the personal training he provided to his trainees. Now, he is all about spa and wellness.

“As the Global Wellness day ambassador for Mexico, I have the mission to spread the message of wellness and to build the public awareness to live every day like GWD with the 7 Manifesto: walk for an hour, drink more water, don’t use plastic bottles, eat organic foods, do a good deed, have a family dinner and sleep by 10:00 p.m.

As the GWI Wellness & Government member and Regional Wellness & Tourism Council's Board I am responsible, with other 5 members, to develop the 2017 Wellness Program for San Miguel De Allende City, a UNESCO World Heritage site ranking 3rd place on Travel and Leisure’s 2016 “World’s Best Cities” List.”

Alejandro is also a globetrotter, having traveled to six different continents, Antarctica being the odd one out. “Every continent I have been to has something unique about it that stands out from the others. I would say the best thing about America is the environmental diversity from the cold north of Canada, to the sunny Caribbean beaches. The best thing about Europe is the history embodied in the architecture of all the ancient buildings. Africa’s geography can’t be beat, and Table Mountain is one of the seven natural wonders of the World. Asia has all the different cultures and customs and the best thing about Australia is the Kangaroos and Koalas. I loved them!”
